Starting November 4, ChatGPT's paid plan is free for all Indian users for one year
OpenAI has officially made ChatGPT’s paid version free for its users in India. Starting from November 4, this offer will be available for a year.
The company said in a statement, “To celebrate OpenAI’s DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru on November 4, its first in India, OpenAI is making ChatGPT Go available free for one full year to all users in India.”
“The promotion is available now for redemption from ChatGPT web, or the Google Play store, and will be available to redeem next week from the Apple app store,” OpenAI said.
This version provides users with an affordable alternative for those who want smarter AI responses, higher message limits, image generation, and the ability to upload files, which previously cost Rs. 399 per month.
The GO version also has features of longer conversations with users, analyzes and provides summaries of lengthy documents, besides it also generates 10x more images.
How to avail this offer?
The company said that anyone who signs up during this promotional period will receive access to its Go version, free of cost.
Meanwhile, old users need to sign in to the ChatGPT website or mobile app. Once logged in, they can use ChatGPT Go free of cost.
Although it's now free for a year, an eligible user still needs to provide a method of payment to avail the promotion.
The company explained that one must provide a method of payment - credit card or UPI - to enroll in the promotion, though the user will not be charged a subscription fee till the 12-month period ends.
The move shows OpenAI’s increasing focus on India, which is among its biggest and fastest-growing markets in the world.
