Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi revealed that he cleared the Central Superior Services (CSS) exam and became a police officer after a bet with his mother.

Appearing as a guest on Lunch with Lillas' podcast, the Mann Mayal actor said, "My mother told me just to pass the exam, indeed, if I didn't take a job. I scored higher than expected, which led to an offer in the police department. Eventually, I convinced my mother to let me leave the post, as I knew a government job wasn't for me."

He described the police department as one of Pakistan's best institutions, but said his temperament didn't suit a lifelong career there. The Jaan e Jahan actor emphasised that he didn't take the CSS exam to secure employment, but also because of his interest in current affairs.

The Legend of Maula Jatt actor shared that he suffered kidney failure at the age of eight, and his family feared for his life. Reflecting on his parenting, Abbasi praised the working women in his family. "All the women in my house are working out; my sister Dr. Fazeela Abbasi is a world-class dermatologist,” he said, reflecting that her guidance is why he doesn't use makeup.

Hamza also talked about his spiritual journey, saying, “I took a break from acting to understand Islam and final answers to many questions about faith and reason.”
