Zohran Mamdani, who has made history as the first ever Muslim mayor of New York City, celebrated his remarkable victory that instantly caught the internet’s attention.

The 34-year-old Democratic socialist, who also became the youngest person to win the mayoral election in a century, won over former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa with a progressive campaign that promised change for the people.

He said, “My friends, we have toppled a political dynasty. I wish Andrew Cuomo only the best in private life, but let tonight be the final time I utter his name as we turn the page on a politics that abandoned the many and answers only to the few."

As he wrapped up his speech, Dhoom Machale, a iconic Bollywood hit track started playing. He stood on stage with his wife, Rama Duwaji, and mother, Mira Nair, as the crowd cheered loudly.

The unexpected song choice  sent social media into a frenzy.

One internet user penned on X, “I need someone to explain who was responsible for the 2 second Dhoom Machale audio clip during Mamdani's speech.”

“They’re playing music from Dhoom at the Zohran HQ. Iconic,” another user added.

A third admirer wrote, “Walking off as the NYC mayor elect to Dhoom Machale possibly the most iconic thing Zohran has ever done."

Notably, the election made headlines around the world, especially in India, as Mamdani’s mother Mira  belongs to Rourkela, India and she worked as the director of Monsoon Wedding and Salaam Bombay!
