Bollywood actor Salman Khan has found himself in legal crosshairs after a consumer court in Kota issued a notice to him over allegedly misleading advertisements for Rajshree Pan Masala.

The controversy is based on a complaint claiming that the ads misrepresented the product’s ingredients and misled the public.

The complaint was filed by senior BJP leader and Rajasthan High Court advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey, who argued that the company and the 59-year-old actor falsely promoted the pan masala as containing saffron-infused cardamom and saffron-infused pan masala.

The petitioner questioned how a product sold for Rs. 5 could contain real saffron, which costs nearly Rs. 4 lakh per kilogram.

He also warned that such claims could indirectly encourage young people to consume pan masala, a substance linked to mouth cancer.

The petitioner told the media, “Salman Khan is a role model for many people. We have filed a complaint against it in the Kota Consumer Court, and notices have been issued for a hearing. Celebrities or film stars in other countries don't even promote cold drinks, but they are promoting tobacco and pan masala. I urge them not to spread the wrong message to the youth, as pan masala is one of the leading causes of mouth cancer.”

The Kota Consumer Court has asked the Tiger star and the manufacturer to respond before the next hearing on November 27.

Although the Dabangg actor appeared in Rajshree Elaichi commercials, the company also makes pan masala, sparking debate over the ethical boundaries of celebrity endorsements.
