The highly regarded sports drama Ghoomer which was directed by R Balki brings the spirit of cricket and inspiration back to the big screen as India celebrates the Indian Women's Cricket Team's historic World Cup victory.
This Friday, November 7th, 2025, Ghoomer starring Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher will have a special theatrical re-release in honour of the country's long standing passion for the game.
The film which was first published on August 18, 2023 is a moving and impactful tale of a cricket player who overcomes any challenges and disabilities under the guidance of a coach who won't let her give up.
Ghoomer which was directed by R Balki and produced by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Abhishek A Bachchan, Gauri Shinde, Wg Cdr Ramesh Pulapaka (Retd) and Anil Naidu, masterfully conveys the spirit of loyalty, mentorship and Indian cricket's unbreakable spirit.
Speaking about the re-release director R Balki said, “I’m thrilled that Ghoomer is releasing again to celebrate the incredible achievement of our women cricketers. Ghoomer was always a tribute to women’s cricket and the resilience of women cricketers. And they did it at the same stadium where Ghoomer was shot. Two matches one fiction one fact on the same pitch. I can’t wait to see audience reactions again.”
Today, the film's message seems even more timely. Ghoomer's heart is seen in the Indian Women's Cricket Team's recent World Cup victory. It is a tale of perseverance self control and the will to overcome obstacles.
Through the women who have made the country proud what the movie showed on screen hard work, grace and glory has now come to life in real life.
