Vijay Varma, who has long been praised for his intense acting, recently gave insights about his personal battle with mental health for the first time.
In his latest conversation, the 39-year-old actor actor revealed that he was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety, which left him feeling “very lonely” and “afraid.”
During a candid chat with Rhea Chakraborty on her podcast, he shared, “I was all alone in an apartment in Mumbai. Luckily, I had a small terrace I could see the sky, be with the elements. Otherwise, I would’ve gone mad. Actually, I did."
"What happened to me is that pause, that constant running after work, the byproduct is that you become so lonely. I felt very lonely, very afraid and I was like why can’t I move from my couch for four days? What’s going on?”, he continued.
He further added that Amir Khan's daughter Ira Khan and Gulshan Devaiah supported him during this tough time. Since Ira was working on the Dahaad, they had become close and often talked online.
As his condition worsened, the internet personality encouraged him to keep moving and join her workouts.Later, he met a therapist who found he was dealing with depression and anxiety.
Moreover, he also stated that yoga and therapy helped him feel balanced again, as he started doing surya namaskars and got help from a professional.
Professionally, Vijay was last seen in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack and Murder Mubarak, and his upcoming film Gustaakh Ishq is set to release on November 28.
