Indian actress Anumpama Parameswaram has filed a cyber complaint after a 20-year-old girl was allegedly harassed online by morphed photos and spreading false rumors.

She shared details on her Instagram and wrote, “A few days ago, it came to my notice that an Instagram profile was circulating extremely inappropriate and false content about me, my family, and even tagging my friends and co-actors. The posts include morphed pictures and baseless allegations — it was deeply distressing to witness such targeted harassment online”

“Further investigation revealed that the same individual had created multiple fake accounts with the sole intention of spreading abomination by posting and commenting malicious content on every post related to me. Upon becoming apprehensive of this, I incontinently filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police in Kerala,” Anumpama added.

After a cyber investigation , authorities identified the individual as a 20 year-old girl from Tamil Nadu who had created multiple fake accounts to spread hate and offensive comments.

Anupama confirmed that she has taken legal action against the person responsible but choose not to disclose her identity because of her age.

“Owing a smartphone or having access to social media platforms doesn't give anyone the right to harass, defame or spread hatred against others. Every action online leaves a trace, and responsibility will follow”, she wrote.

The Karthikeya 2 actor also emphasized that being a public figure does not take away her basic rights, stating, “Cyberbullying is a punishable offence, and responsibility is real.”
