Farhan Akhtar is next to be seen in the character of Major Shaitan Singh in 120 Bahadur, set to hit theatres on November 21.

This war drama, led by the 51-year-old actor-director, is a tribute to 120 Indian soldiers who held their ground against 3,000 Chinese troops in the Battle of Rezang La, fought in 1962.

This is Farhan Akhtar’s first film as an actor after nearly 4½ years, since Toofan (2021).

Directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai, this intense action film was shot in real and extremely challenging locations.

Ahead of its official release, reviews from its private screening have started pouring in, with some describing it as a must-watch, while critics mentioned some flaws as well.

A veteran army officer, after watching the movie in a special screening for the COAS, posted a review on X.

He wrote, “120 Bahadur! Got a unique opportunity to see the film at a special screening for the COAS. A very well-made movie, with a powerful visualisation of the battle… Having walked up the Rezang La pass myself a couple of times, can vouch for the excellent picturisation. A must-watch on 21 Nov!!”

A detailed review by Hindustan Times defines Farhan Akhtar’s acting and screen presence as solid, but says that in terms of speaking, he falls short of fully portraying his character.

It further added, “The craft is certainly there, the intention is unwavering, but the film stops short of delivering the kind of lingering impact a story of this magnitude deserves.”
