Farah Khan's massive income surprise: YouTube earnings surpass film career
Farah Khan talks about the steady income behind her career shift
The director of blockbusters like Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om, began her career as a background dancer, but she didn't limit herself to that field alone.
The 60-year-old gained recognition for choreographing the popular song Pehla Nasha from Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Besides direction, she has also worked as producer.
She has also served as a judge on several reality shows, including Indian Idol, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Nach Baliye, India’s Got Talent, and Celebrity MasterChef.
However, in 2024, Farah chose a new career, becoming a YouTuber, and she has received immense appreciation in this role.
Her quick wit, humour, and the chemistry she shares with her cook, Dilip, have become the talk of the town. Her YouTube vlogs are extremely popular among viewers, where she is seen cooking with various Bollywood celebrities and engaging in fun conversations.
In a recent interview, she revealed that she started making YouTube vlogs because of her children’s expenses.
And now, while appearing on actress Soha Ali Khan’s podcast, she has talked how much she earns from this digital platform.
When asked about YouTube earnings, Farah admitted it’s “massive,” saying, “In my entire career, maybe in a year, I have not made so much money, even though I have directed so many films and all.”
The filmmaker further spoke about the creative freedom this platform offers, adding, “It’s my channel, so no OTT platform or production house is telling me ‘yeh toh kaatna hi padega’, nor is any TV channel saying you can only bring this guest on, which I used to hate. The demarcation that this one is an A-lister and the other one is tacky, I used to hate it.”
