Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra , passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at his residence in Mumbai. The 89- year-old had been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on October 31 due to deteriorating health, facing age- related complications and breathing issues.

During his hospital stay, false rumors of his death caused distress to the family and film industry. The Apne actor was later shifted home for treatment on a ventilator. On the morning of his passing a special ambulance was seen outside his house, with wife Hema Malini and daughter Esha Deol arriving in traditional white mourning attire.

Earlier, in an interview with Haar Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai, Dharmendra opened up about his childhood and memories of the school. He said, “ There was a school where my father used to teach, and that’s where I learned many important lessons of life. One day, I didn’t break my turban allowing no one would say anything because my father was the schoolmaster. But our schoolteacher, Ghulam Rasool, scolded me so much that I cried. My father also told me, ‘Go home and tie your turban properly.'"

The Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere actor also recalled his friends during the partition.

“When the partition happened, I was in class 8. My friends Abdul Jabbar and Akram and I used to live together happily.There was no discrimination at all. It felt strange and sad when people started talking about partitions. I once ran to my schoolteacher, Master Ruknuddin, crying and hugged him as he was leaving the town, saying ‘ Why are you leaving, Master ji?’ He replied, ‘We must go.’”
