Indian actress Girija Oak , who recently went viral for her blue-saree look, has spoken about the unwanted attention she received after deepfake pictures of her started circulating online. The Taare Zameen Par actress said the sudden fame brought both praise and troubling behaviour from strangers.

Girija, became an internet sensation after clips from a recent interview spread across social media. While many viewers appreciated her work, she also received direct messages from men that made her uncomfortable.

Speaking to News18, Girija said she has learned to handle the harsh side of popularity. She shared, “Eventually , you come thick-skinned. I started acting very early in my life. I’ve been around 20 – 25 years now. Now, when some things happen, you take them with a pinch of salt.”

The Cycle Kick actress added that the recent wave of attention did affect her. “This time around, I’d be lying if I said I wasn't affected at all. I’m not an insensitive , stone- hearted person. I’m a human being, and things do get to me. But eventually, you have to work your way around it and figure out mechanisms to deal with it. What appeals to me sometimes is the entitlement with which men send messages. It’s quite amusing.I don’t know what else to say.”

Girija is known for her work in Marathi, Hindi and Kannada cinema. She has appeared in films such as Gulmohar, Lajja, Navra Maza Bhavra, and House Full.

She was one of the leads in the TV series Ladies Special, and has starred in OTT projects including Modern Love: Mumbai, 13th: Some Lessons Aren’t Taught in Classrooms, and Inspector Zende opposite Manoj Bajpaye

Girija continues to gain attention on social media, but her latest statement highlights the emotional pressure that comes with sudden viral fame.
