The wedding of Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal, originally scheduled for November 23 in Sangli, remains indefinitely postponed according to the cricketer’s family.

The high-profile ceremony was abruptly halted on the wedding day after Smriti Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered a sudden health emergency and was rushed to the hospital.

Shortly thereafter, the groom-to-be, Palash Muchhal, was also admitted to a hospital in Sangli and later shifted to Mumbai due to stress-related health issues. Both have since been discharged and are recovering.

Amid rampant social media speculation, reports circulated earlier this week claiming the couple had set a wedding date for December 7. However, Smriti’s brother, Shravan Mandhana, firmly dismissed these claims.

“I have no idea about these rumours. As of now it (the wedding) is still postponed.”

Despite the unexpected delay the families are focused on recovery and remain positive about the future. Palash’s mother, Amita Muchhal, expressed her emotional distress but offered a hopeful outlook for the wedding.

“Smriti and Palash dono takleef main hain… Palash dreamt of coming home with his bride. I had even planned a special welcome… Everything will be fine, shaadi bohot jaldi hogi.”

Following the postponement, Smriti Mandhana removed her wedding-related posts from Instagram, a move that fuelled further online speculation about the couple’s relationship.
