Ranveer Singh’s awaited Dhurandhar is preparing out for its worldwide debut this Friday and initial earnings reports show that the picture is primed for a great start at the box office.

Aditya Dhar's spy action and drama which has been creating a lot of excitement in recent weeks might have a record-breaking post-pandemic premiere.

Advance ticket sales for Dhurandhar began over the weekend six days before to its premiere providing fans ample opportunity to secure their seats in advance.

Although the film saw a slow start Sacnilk reports that its collections have steadily picked up over the past three days. The trade site notes that the movie has earned ₹1.82 crore from 41,904 tickets sold across 2,890 2D shows.

The film’s IMAX 2D screenings recorded relatively modest numbers earning an estimated ₹24.47 lakh from 3,731 tickets across just 76 shows.

Trade analysts expect Dhurandhar to see a significant boost in bookings over the final 48 hours thanks to its mass appeal and action packed narrative.

At present the film is on track to surpass the ₹12 crore net opening of 83 with current trends pointing to a potential ₹15 crore-plus opening day marking Ranveer’s biggest post pandemic debut.

There’s even a chance the film could touch the ₹20 crore mark if pre sales pick up momentum in the coming days.

Ranveer’s return to adult cinema after 15 years

Singh has officially received clearance for his film Dhurandhar from CBFC and thus will have its first A rated release in more than 10 years.

Although CBFC has provided the film with an A rating they did recommend various disclaimers and editing.

They recommended that all the scenes with drug or alcohol addiction show an anti-drug anti-alcohol message. Reportedly, the CBFC considered editing and/or reducing some graphic depictions of violence in the opening sequence and mid to end of the film, in addition to requesting that abusive language be muted in places it appeared.

As well as being recommended, documentaries and films that contain documentaries and/or films were added to the ending credits of the film.

Bollywood’s longest film experience

With a runtime of 214 minutes and 1 second (3 hours, 34 minutes, and 1 second) it ranks among Bollywood’s longest films in nearly two decades equaling the length of the 2008 historical epic Jodhaa Akbar.
