JioHotstar has announced the release date and dropped the trailer for The Great Shamsuddin Family a new film by Peepli Live director Anusha which will premiere on the platform on December 12.

Plot overview

Anusha also penned The Great Shamsuddin Family which revolves around Bani Ahmed (Kritika Kamra) who has just 12 hours to finish an important application when her family unexpectedly shows up, plunging her into a chaotic crisis.

The highlight cast of The Great Shamsuddin Family features Juhi Babbar Soni, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Purab Kohli, Sheeba Chaddha, Dolly Ahluwalia, Natasha Rastogi, Joyeeta Dutta, Nishank Verma, Manisha Gupta, Rana Pratap Senger, Rahul Misha Jeff Goldberg, debutante Anushka Bannerjee and Farida Jalal.

Simran Hora has composed the music for the film featuring lyrics by the late Ghulam Rabbani Taban. The crew also includes Debashish Remy Dalai as director of photography, Konark Saxena as editor and Madhusudhan N as production designer.

Anusha Rizvi’s comeback

The Great Shamsuddin Family marks Anusha Rizvi’s return to filmmaking after Peepli Live (2010) which was produced by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao and starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui among others. Peepli Live tells the story of a farmer striving to secure funds to save his farm.
