Karan Johar opens up about his secret fear; fans relate instantly
Karan Johar’s confession about travel anxiety connects with frequent travellers
Karan Johar has built his brand on glamour and glitter, but this time he dropped the celebrity armour and spoke straight from the heart about something painfully ordinary, that is, travel anxiety.
His new social media post, folded lightly in humour, dug into a fear many hide behind confident airport selfies, which immediately resonated with his fans.
The 53-year-old wrote in his post, "So disclaimer: not that it matters, you are free to troll me. What I am about to write may be considered a champagne problem but I do feel many will resonate.. Raise your hands if you have travel anxiety! First I have a desperate need to reach the airport early (sometime even before the ground staff have arrived) then in the lounge I check my passport and my boarding card 50 times."
For a man who directs emotions on screen, this note felt unusually unfiltered. He admitted he waits for the pilot’s voice as if it is a verdict on survival.
His post added, "Once I am seated I wait for the pilot to announce the duration of the flight… if we are told it’s “a smooth ride” I can breathe but some pilots say “ few bumps on the way."
The filmmaker even joked that anxiety turns him into the sweetest passenger in the sky, smiling longer than a toothpaste commercial.
He further added, "Then I feel the desperate urge to be hugely polite to the cabin crew… so I smile like a Colgate ad! And say thank you at every given point of time .then an hour before we land I am all ready ( not at all ready for any circling or air traffic )."
The internet, rather than trolling, joined him.
Comments poured in from people who count minutes till touchdown, who grip armrests while pretending to sleep, who also check their passports 50 times just because they must.
Meanwhile, between turbulence and scripts, Karan continues backing Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla and gearing up for the release of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.
