Meta rolls out new WhatsApp features, from missed call messages to Status stickers
Meta promised more updates to keep chats and calls simple, fun, and organized
Meta added new WhatsApp features just before the holiday season. The update made calling, chatting, and sharing media easier and more fun.
New call features to stay connected
During the holiday rush, reaching someone on the first try was not always possible. To help with that, WhatsApp added the option to leave a quick voice or video note, depending on the type of call, when the person didn’t answer.
React in voice chats without stopping the conversation
Voice chats already allowed users to switch between texting and talking without ringing the whole group. After the update, users were able to react during a voice chat, sharing a small emotion or cheering moment without stopping the conversation.
Smart messaging tools
Video calls also became easier to follow, as the app automatically highlighted the person speaking, helping everyone stay focused.
Fun and interactive status updates
Meta upgraded its AI image generation on WhatsApp with new models from Midjourney and Flux. As a result, users noticed better, sharper visuals while creating holiday greetings or fun images for chats and Status.
Easier file and media search on Desktop
A new tab on Mac, Windows, and Web gathered documents, links, and media in one place. This made searching and managing files much faster.
WhatsApp also redesigned link previews to remove long, messy URLs, allowing chats to look cleaner and more organized.
Interactive Status and channel updates:
The Status feature received new expressive tools, including music lyrics, interactive stickers, and question prompts, giving users more ways to engage.
Channel admins were given the option to post questions and get answers in real time, helping them connect better with their audience.
