Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow recently came together to break their silence on the constant trolling they face due to the nature of their careers.

The pair sat down for the Los Angeles Times’ The Envelope 2025 Oscar Actresses Roundtable alongside Emily Blunt, Tessa Thompson, Elle Fanning and Sydney Sweeney for a wide-ranging conversation.

Lopez and Paltrow shared how they cope with the negativity they are often met with.

"I try to never read anything about myself. Full stop. Ever. Period," the Se7en actress revealed.

Lopez, who stars in the musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, asked Paltrow, "Wait, not anything about yourself? Ever? Period? Because I don’t read reviews of my films either, but people will bring it to you it when it’s good and you’re like, 'Oh, nice.' But there’s other things they’ll bring you...."

To this, the Marty Supreme actress replied, "Sometimes I’ll come upon it," prompting the On the Floor hitmaker to joke, "And you want to die."

"Want to die!" Paltrow agreed. "Like when someone forwards you a link to something really horrible about yourself, and they’re like, 'Oh, this is bull****.' I do try to avoid [that kind of stuff]. I deleted Instagram."

Elsewhere in the conversation, the duo gave insight into their experiences of being misunderstood when they expanded their careers beyond acting.

"When I stepped back to be an entrepreneur around 2008, I really confused and upset people," the Goop co-founder said.

She added, "Nobody understood what I was doing, and I faced a lot of criticism and confusion over the course of the 17 years since I sent out my first Goop newsletter."

Paltrow also addressed the limitations often placed on women in the industry.

"No, don’t put us in boxes. We get to define who we are," she urged.

Echoing Paltrow’s stance, Lopez revealed she faced similar criticism while balancing her acting and music careers.

Beyond their professional journeys, the actresses also share a piece of Hollywood history, having both previously dated Ben Affleck.

Paltrow and Affleck dated on and off for about three years, from 1997 to 2000.

Meanwhile, Lopez and Affleck dated twice, first from 2002 to 2004, and again from 2021 until their divorce in early 2025.
