Kiara Advani, who will next be seen in Yash starrer Toxic releasing in March 2026, recently spoke about the eight hour workday debate in Bollywood.

In a recent interview, the 34-year-old mother of one stated, “I believe overworking and burnout helps no one.”

Speaking to Vogue India, the Game Changer actress revealed, she now selects scripts based on the soul of the story rather than the genre, adding that she approaches work with a new clarity while also prioritizing mental health—both hers and her team’s.

She also revealed a simple remedy for mental exhaustion, “The sound of my daughter Saraayah giggling in her sleep instantly lifts my spirits.”

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone has also been in the headlines for her stand on reasonable work hours after motherhood.

The actress was reportedly dropped from two major projects Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2, after requesting an eight hour workday.

The Padmaavat star told Harper’s Bazaar India, “We’ve normalised overworking. We mistake burnout for commitment. Eight hours of work a day is enough for the human body and mind. ..We have maternity and paternity policies. We should normalise bringing children to work.”

Meanwhile, her comments have sparked a larger conversation in India film industry about work life balance and the pressures actors face, especially after becoming parents.
