Varun Dhawan mourns loss of someone close to his heart
Varun Dhawan’s moving and heartfelt tribute draws reactions from colleagues
Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, on Monday, shared a quiet but emotional moment with his followers, mourning the loss of his pet dog Angel.
The 38-year-old took to Instagram to express his grief and posted a collage video of old clips and pictures showing Angel with him and his wife Natasha Dalal over the years.
The video was simple, personal and heavy with loss. Alongside it, he wrote: "Rip angel. Today heaven gained another angel. Thank u for being a wonderful pup and an amazing sister to Joey. We will miss u. See u down the road."
The Bawaal actor has often spoken about how important his pets are to him.
Earlier this year, during an appearance on the chat show Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle, he said he shares the same love for his dog as he does for his daughter Lara, a comment that now feels more poignant.
The post drew quick reactions from across the film industry. Actor Mouni Roy wrote, "Im so terribly sorry...." Director Zoya Akhtar commented, "I am so sorry (broken heart emoji) RIP baby."
Jacqueline Fernandez reacted with a crying emoji, while Aditi Rao Hydari posted heart and crying emojis.
Mrunal Thakur simply wrote, "What?" Fans also shared messages of sympathy, with one writing, "May her soul rest in peace she will be missed."
Away from social media, Dhawan is preparing for his next major release, Border 2. He plays Param Vir Chakra awardee Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya in the film, inspired by the 1971 India-Pakistan war.
The teaser has already earned praise from many, including the soldier’s son. This war drama is set to release in theatres on January 23, 2026.
