Stranger Things fans' growing speculation about a new secret episode has been put to rest.

According to USA Today, the conspiracy theory known as "Conformity Gate" has been debunked after Netflix reminded viewers in its social media bios that "ALL EPISODES OF STRANGER THINGS ARE NOW PLAYING."

Despite the Netflix hit concluding, the theory suggested that something crucial might still be missing and that the ending was designed to mislead viewers.

According to online speculation, a surprise episode was rumoured to be scheduled for release on January 7, 2026, following what fans describe as an ambiguous conclusion to the series.

The Conformity Gate theory proposes that the apparent victory over Vecna in the final episode was not real.

However, Randy Havens, who plays the fan-favourite teacher Scott Clarke, has shut down rumours of a potential new episode on Threads.

"Yes it's the actual finale I'm sorry to all the conspiracy theorists but that's actually and truly the end of 'Stranger Things,'" he clarified.

Previously, the 48-year-old actor took to his  Instagram handle to share that there is "no secret Snyder Cut of the show," in reference to Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut.

Stranger Things is currently streaming on Netflix, with the final episode airing on December 31, 2025.
