Idris Elba gets honest about knighthood honour and retirement plan

Idris Elba has recently shared his honest thoughts on knighthood honour as well as his retirement plan from acting.

The English actor, who is currently promoting Hijack Season two, reveals his reaction to being knighted as he’s called Sir Idris now.

“I’ve worked trying to raise as much awareness about what young people are going through, especially in the UK and other parts of the world. It’s a real honour to be recognised for that,” says the Luther actor in a new interview with Extra at the show premiere in New York City.

Idris continues, “Not for my acting work, but, you know, for trying to make a difference for young people.”

Heads of State actor explains that being knighted is a “milestone for my mom as well, my family… It means a lot to them”.

Elsewhere in the interview, Idris clears out retirement from acting comment and discloses his future plan.

“You naturally retire… There are things that I’ve done I don’t need to do again and the things I’d like to progress towards; directing is one of them,” points out the 53-year-old actor.

Idris opens up that he’s working on a documentary about himself, “It’s just a day in the life of me. It’s like what’s it like from my perspective.”

Moreover, the actor also discusses his new show, promising that season two will be “better” than the first season.

“I can tell you it’s a continuation of the first one… It’s like what happened to my character,” he explains about his second season.

Meanwhile, Hijack Season two will begin premiering on January 14 on Apple TV.
