Amanda Seyfried has recently opened up about the ongoing mental health challenges she has faced from a young age.

In an interview with Vogue magazine, published on January 8, the 40-year-old actress, who has been making headlines for her performance in The Housemaid, revealed that she has lived with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) since the age of 19.

"I was living in Marina del Rey at the time, shooting Big Love. And my mom had to take a sabbatical from work in Pennsylvania to live with me for a month," Seyfried shared.

She added, "I got my brain scans, and that’s when I got on medication, which to this day, I’m on every night."

Furthermore, the Mean Girls actress admitted that she intentionally avoids certain situations to prevent her disorder from being triggered by external factors, particularly "drinking too much alcohol, or doing any drugs at all."

"I would make plans and then just not go," she continued. "I guess I did make choices…. I didn’t enter that realm of nightclubs. I gotta give credit to my OCD."

On the professional front, Amanda Seyfried’s latest film, The Housemaid, released on December 19, 2025, scored 73% on Rotten Tomatoes.
