English actor Tom Blyth opens up about becoming a leading man in a rom-com movie
Tom Blyth has recently reflected on his role in People We Meet On Vacation movie.
The English actor, who plays Alex in Emily Henry’s adaptation, shared his experience playing the leading man in the rom-com movie.
“I think I am just ready to do something fun,” said the 30-year-old in a new interview with US Weekly at the movie’s premiere on January 6.
Tom continues, “I’m ready to do something light.”
Before this movie, the Plainclothes actor revealed that he played serious roles in many movies.
“I had done a lot of serious stuff back-to-back and I was kind of ready to do something that was going to lift up my soul a little bit,” explained Tom.
Elsewhere in the interview, the actor opened up about his experience of playing a leading man in the first-ever rom-com genre.
“All the old ‘80s classics were my inspiration,” he told Us.
Interestingly, Tom was also inspired by Tom Hanks’ performances in You’ve Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle.
The Wasteman actor mentioned that a “good, old-fashioned rom-com” is exactly “what the world needs right now”.
“I think we can take ourselves really seriously sometimes. And I certainly have been guilty of that at times,” remarked Tom.
The actor added, “It’s really worthwhile to do something fun once in a while and remind yourself that what we do for a living is playful and fun and a luxury and to lean into that, and lean into the love.”
