Emraan Hashmi mocks ‘Dhurandhar’ critics with powerful statement
Emraan Hashmi criticises 'crap mentality' against 'Dhurandhar' success
Emraan Hashmi recently addressed critics who have been targeting Dhurandhar despite its successful run at the box office.
The 46-year-old actor, who has been making headlines for his latest successful projects, voiced his support for the film amid criticism over its political content.
In an exclusive conversation with India Today, he said, “Whenever a film does a certain amount of business, firstly, you’re happy. However, there is a crap mentality in our industry. People like to run down films. But I’m of the opinion that if something does well, you should celebrate that. Because more films do well, the better it is for the industry, and the cash flow comes in. It helps everyone. So, that crap mentality shouldn’t be there.”
Later in the interview, the Awarapan star praised Aditya Dhar’s project as well as the film’s marketing strategy.
Speaking to the outlet, he added, “But it’s great for the makers. I think it’s a great film. The marketing of the film, the way it’s … I’ve not seen the film, but it’s audacious when you have two parts like that. And a film that is almost three and a half hours, but it’s doing that kind of business. I was telling someone right now that cinema experience would be four hours, but people are going and seeing it at 12 o’ clock shows, even early in the morning. And that’s the power of cinema and word of mouth. It’s caught on like wildfire.”
This comes shortly after Awarapan 2 producer Mukesh Bhatt announced a delay in the sequel’s release until May or June, stating that he’s not afraid of the success of Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic.
The high-octane action thriller, directed by Aditya Dhar, stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, and others.
For the unversed, Hashmi was last seen in Haq alongside Yami Gautam and is currently gearing up for his upcoming Netflix series, Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web.
