The film, which was released in 2020, told the story of Maratha warrior Tanhaji Malusare, with Devgn in the lead role and his real-life wife, Kajol, portraying Savitri Bai.

On January 10, 2026, marking the sixth anniversary of Tanhaji, Devgn took to Instagram to share a tribute to the film.
