Jennifer Lawrence has become the center of intense online criticism after making a controversial revelation about her pet dog.

Earlier this week, the 35-year-old actress attended a special New York City screening of her latest film, Die My Love, where she made a comment that quickly sparked backlash online.

During a casual confession, Lawrence revealed that she once felt she wanted to "obliterate every dog" after her chihuahua, Princess Pippi Longstocking, bit her son.

Following the remarks, social media users were quick to call out the behaviour.

One fan commented under a resurfaced clip of her interview with E! News, "You don’t dump your dog just because you had kids. You teach your kids to respect your pet. Wow."

Another wrote, "I really don’t like her now."

"YIKES, I loved her.. this is so disappointing. I hope people don't think this is normal behaviour," a third added.

In the now-viral clip, Lawrence explained how becoming a mother changed her perspective on having pets around her children.

"After I had a kid, my dogs became so scary," she admitted. "It’s almost like I don’t recognise dogs right now. I see them as a threat. One of them bit my son, and that made me just want to obliterate every dog."

The Oscar-winning actress continued, "I was just like, 'I’m gonna take you out—you and your f****** family and your f****** friends.'"

Following the incident, she revealed that the dogs are now staying with her parents.

Jennifer Lawrence has yet to respond to the ongoing criticism. She is a mother of two sons, Cy, 3, and another born in 2025, whom she shares with her husband, Cooke Maroney.
