‘The Raja Saab’ piracy controversy: Prabhas film leaked, police take action
The horror comedy movie of Maruthi, The Raja Saab with Prabhas as the lead was released in cinemas on Friday right before the festival of Sankranthi celebrations.
However, one day after the release the movie got leaked on the internet which led to the cybercrime police in Hyderabad taking action against the illegal streaming sites. Meanwhile, a restaurant in the US is said to have shown the pirated version of the movie on their television.
An Instagram account for NRIs shared a video that was later removed alleging that a restaurant in Ohio, USA was exhibiting a stolen copy of The Raja Saab on their screen. “Excessive ran (folded hands emojis),” they have written spreading the now famous post.
This happens when the film's US distributor, Prathyangira Cinemas declared that The Raja Saab had already surpassed the $2 million gross in the area in 48 hours while the film's total gross was ₹138.30 crore worldwide.
Hyderabad Police confirm film leak
In the same vein, the Hyderabad cybercrime police after arresting Ravi Emandi the operator of the iBomma pirate website have now diverted their attention to another purported pirate.
This is the case of one Naveen who is allegedly behind the 5movierulz and 1tamilmv websites. He is believed to be a Tamil who is hiding in Sri Lanka.
According to Times of India, a police officer of high rank has said that camcorder prints of new movies are being made available on the internet. It has been said that The Raja Saab and Dhurandhar were among the films that were streamed illegally on these sites.
