The US President has talked about Internet blackout in Iran
US President Donald Trump has spoken about the Internet blackout in Iran and he believes tech billionaire Elon Musk can do something about the situation.
While speaking on Sunday, Trump said he plans to speak to Elon in order to restore internet in the middle-eastern country.
Authorities in Iran have blocked internet services since four days amid the ongoing anti-government protests.
“He's very good at that kind of thing, he's got a very good company”, Trump told the reporters when questioned if he would engage with his company SpaceX.
SpaceX’s internet services, Starlink, have been used in Iran which Trump hopes would reestablish.
Elon has previously helped people in Iran with internet services amid complete blackout in 2022 when the protests took place previously.
With Joe Biden as president at the time, the White House worked with Elon to set up an internet system in Iran with Starlink.
The protests in Iran began on December 28 in response to the soaring prices in the nation. However, the protests have now turned into a call to end the clerical rule of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
