David Harbour opened up about dealing with his mental health struggles and the steps he took to overcome them.

In an article published on Future of Personal Health’s website, the 50-year-old actor revealed how psychotherapy impacted his mental wellbeing while managing bipolar disorder.

Harbour, who has been open about his struggles, was diagnosed with the disorder at the age of 25.

While acknowledging the importance of medication, he explained that therapy has been essential for achieving lasting recovery.

"Medication alone is only half the battle. There is not a cure-all formula, there is only hard individual work," the Stranger Things star said.

He added, "Only recently have I started intense psychotherapy, and it has made a world of difference in my treatment."

Harbour frist attended therapy after getting sober in 1999.

"When I quit drinking, it forced me to confront a lot of demons that rose to the surface," he stated.

Elsewhere in the article, the Black Widow actor emphasised the significance of being transparent and open in order to help those who are struggling.

Despite therapy being expensive, Harbour encouraged those in need to seek out support groups and affordable options.

On the professional front, David Harbour’s recent acting can be seen in Stranger Things Season 5, which is currently streaming on Netflix.
