Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and author-actor Twinkle Khanna have completed 25 years of marriage, marking a milestone that began with what Akshay once called a ‘chat mangni pat biyah’.

The couple married in 2001 in a low-key ceremony with just 50 guests, and their wedding venue was also unusual even by celebrity standards: a boutique in Juhu owned by designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla.

On their silver anniversary, the 58-year-old actor shared a slow-motion video of Twinkle dancing to Ramba Ho-Ho-Ho Samba Ho-Ho-Ho. 

Alongside it, he revealed advice he received from his mother-in-law, veteran actor Dimple Kapadia, on the wedding day.

He wrote, “When we got married this day in 2001, her mother had said ‘Beta, get ready to burst out laughing in the most weird situations because she’ll do exactly that.’”

Reflecting on the years since, the Khiladi star added, “25 years and I know ki meri mother-in-law kabhi jhooth nahi bolti hai… her daughter refuses to even walk straight… she prefers to dance through life instead.”

He ended the note with: “From day one to year twenty five, cheers to my lady who keeps me laughing, guessing and slightly anxious at times! Happy anniversary to us, Tina. 25 years of madness that we both love.”

The couple shares two children, son Aarav and daughter Nitara.

Fans quickly filled the comments with congratulatory messages, one wrote, “Happy anniversary akshay paji and twinkle bhabhi, aap dono ko rab khub saari khushiyan bate.”

On the work front, Akshay Kumar is next set to appear in Bhooth Bangla, Welcome To The Jungle and Haiwaan.
