Nearly a year after the sudden death of actress and television personality Shefali Jariwala, her husband Parag Tyagi has reignited public discussion with claims that go beyond medical explanations.

Shefali, best remembered for the iconic Kaanta Laga remix and later appearances on reality television, died in June 2025.

At the time, doctors said cardiac arrest was the cause, a conclusion that has not changed since. But Tyagi now says he believes something more sinister was involved.

Speaking on a recent podcast with Paras Chhabra, the 50-year-old alleged that “black magic” was performed on his wife before her death.

He said his belief was rooted in personal experience rather than speculation. “Bahot saare log nahi maante inn cheezon ko but main bahot maanta hoon. Jahan par bhagwan hai wahan shaitaan bhi hai… Mujhe lagta nahi mujhe pata hai kisine kiya hai… kisine toh kiya hai,” he said.

He also spoke about moments when he felt something was wrong, claiming the feeling returned more than once. “Mujhe mehsoos hota hai ke kuch toh gadbad hai… ek baar toh nikal gaye lekin iss baar thoda heavy rahi cheezein,” he added.

He went on to describe sensing changes in Shefali during prayer. “Main jab baitha hoon na bhakti mein mujhe mehsoos ho jaata hai kuch toh gadbad hai… Iss baar kuch zyaada tha… I know for 100 per cent kisi ne toh kiya hai,” he said.

Medical professionals, however, continue to stand by the original findings, and no new investigation has been announced.

Since her death, Tyagi has spoken often about his grief, sharing memories and messages online, including an emotional tribute on what would have been Shefali’s 43rd birthday.
