Valentino Garavini, the celebrated fashion designer, has died at the age of 93.
On January 18, the legendary Italian fashion designer’s personal Instagram account and his foundation broke the news of his passing.
"Our founder, Valentino Garavani passed away today at his Roman residence, surrounded by his loved ones,” the Instagram post read. “The lying in state will be held at PM23 in Piazza Mignanelli 23 on Wednesday January 21st and Thursday January 22nd, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The funeral will take place on Friday, January 23rd at the Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, in Piazza della Repubblica 8 in Rome, at 11 am."
The award-winning designer left Hollywood and the fashion industry in shock and misery. Valentino’s fellow industry pioneers, including Cameron Silver, pay tribute to him in the comments on the Instagram post.
“One of the greatest. Rest in Peace,” Solver commented.
Valentino’s former creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, also commented a broken heart emoji to express his reminiscence.
The late Italian designer has been the favorite of the biggest Hollywood names, including Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman, and Anne Hathaway.
Valentino, the fashion pioneer born on May 11, 1932, has lived with his partner Bruce Hoeksema, the former vice president of the fashion house, since 1982.
