The trailer of Vishal Bhardwaj’s theatrical comeback O Romeo was released with great fanfare in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon.

The movie has Shahid Kapoor as a mafioso madly in love with Triptii Dimri who a woman in the process of killing is.

The movie reflects the dark side of crime in Mumbai, accompanied by lots of song and dance performances plus some classic Vishal Bhardwaj interruptions.

The trailer for O Romeo eventually deals with the question whether the motion picture is inspired by the gangster Hussain Ustara who had notoriously challenged Dawood Ibrahim on the orders of Sapna Didi.

The filmmakers are denying that the film is about Ustara (in the face of a legal notice from his family), but the trailer shows that Shahid’s character has been given the name Ustara in the movie.

According to the makers, “O’Romeo is a romantic action drama based on true events, promising a gripping cinematic experience with Shahid Kapoor stepping into a role full of grit, emotional depth, intensity and quirk.”

Triptii portrays a lady who comes to him for a supari murder but Ustara gets smitten with her wanting for her soul and not just body.

Avinash Tiwary is seen in an enigmatic sequence battling with a bull while Nana Patekar is a policeman an ideal contrast to Shahid's role.

There are plenty of scenes with Shahid longing for Triptii and grooving to different tunes with a lot of bloodshed, violence and killing in between as Shahid comes to understand that violence is his vocation.

O Romeo cast and release date details

The on screen parent of Shahid and Triptii is a powerful and rich cast that includes Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani Farida Jalal, Aruna Irani, Vikrant Massey and a special appearance of Tamannaah Bhatia as well.

O Romeo which is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala is to be released during Valentine’s Week on 13 February 2026.
