Bollywood is used to big faces and bigger names, but a new film announcement this week has gone in the opposite direction – and people can’t stop talking about it.

A poster for an upcoming Hindi film titled Assi appeared online on Tuesday.

It showed no actors, no director’s credit and no production house logo. Just a red background, white text and a date. In an industry built on star power, the silence felt loud.

The poster carries a line that has puzzled many: “Eighty. Per day. Every day.” What it means is still unclear, but that hasn’t stopped speculation.

One trade post teased, “Only if you knew what it was. Eighty times a day. Every day. Every twenty minutes. And when you do know, it hits hard. Very hard!!!”

Perhaps the most interesting line on the poster is about who really matters in this film. “Believe it or not, the highest paid crew member on this film is the writer.” In Bollywood, where writers are often invisible, that sentence alone has raised eyebrows.

Social media users were quick to react. “No stars or big director, is it? Wonder why this secrecy,” wrote one. Another sounded almost relieved: “Just happy there are no stars’ faces on a poster for a change.”

Some see this as a clever move. One post said, “This seems to be a promising marketing strategy to raise curiosity.”

Assi is due in cinemas on 20 February 2026, releasing alongside the more traditional romantic drama Do Deewane Seher Mein
