'Border 2' review: Viewers praise Sunny Deol in early reactions

Indian actor Sunny Deol-led war drama Border 2 released in theatres on Friday, January 23. Ahead of the release, the film’s first review was shared by trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh on social media.
Taran posted his review on X( formerly Twitter) shortly after night and gave the film 4.5 stars.
He described Border 2 as a large- scale war drama that balanced emotion and spectacle while staying rooted in its theme.
Sharing his reaction, Taran wrote, “Border 2 makes your heart swell with pride… The film salutes the nation as well as the armed forces… STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.”
He praised director Anurag Singh for delivering what he called a powerful and emotionally charged war movie.
According to the review, the war sequences were mounted on a grand scale and were supported by strong emotional moments linked to the characters.
The review also highlighted the dialogues and music. Taran noted, “Dialogues are a major high point – sharp, hard-hitting, and patriotic without being jingoistic.”
He added that several punchlines were designed for big-screen impact and were likely to draw applause in theatres.
The recreated versions of iconic songs from the original Border were also mentioned. The review stated that tracks like Ghar Kab Aaoge and Jaate Hue Lamhon added emotional depth to the narrative.
Special praise was reserved for the performances. Taran described Sunny Deol as the emotional core of the film and wrote, “This is vintage Sunny Deol – commanding, righteous, and unforgettable.”
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 starred Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The film was positioned as a sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 Border and released ahead of Republic Day.
