Hollywood celebrities strongly react to five-year-old boy’s detention
Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Reese Witherspoon slam ICE for detaining a young boy in Minnesota
Hollywood celebrities have recently broken their silence on arrest of a five-year-old boy in Minnesota.
Liam Ramos, a preschooler, and his father were taken into custody by ICE on January 20, revealed the superintendent of the school district in Columbia Heights at a press conference on Wednesday.
Interestingly, a photo of the young boy, wearing a bunny-shaped winter hat, standing outside as an ICE officer holds on to his backpack, made headlines on social media.
Following his detention, many celebrities have expressed their disappointment over the government’s horrendous action.
Gigi, who shares one daughter Khai with ex-partner Zayn Malik, reposted an image of a boy on her Instagram Story, calling it “horrific” in her caption.
“Horrific. Cruel. Unacceptable!” wrote the model.
Reese, who is a mother of three children, also expressed her disgust and reposted a picture of Liam on her IG Story.
“A five-year-old coming home from school detained by ICE,” she stated in her caption.
Meanwhile, Kendall didn’t make any comment but she reshared the picture with a red broken-heart emoticon.
For those unversed, Liam was taken into custody by federal agents from the driveway of his home on Tuesday after returning from preschool.
He was used as a “lure” by ICE to arrest his father and now both of them had been held at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Texas, according to school district officials and a family attorney.
Liam and his father are reportedly from Ecuador who presented themselves to border officers in Texas in December 2024 to apply for asylum, disclosed the family’s lawyer, Marc Prokosch.
However, the federal agents clarified their stance, writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, “ICE did not, and has never, ‘used a child as bait.’ The child was ABANDONED.”
