A film whose announcement arrived without names and faces has finally shown what it is about. And it is not an easy watch.

When Assi was first announced, its poster carried no star cast, no director and no production house. Just one line: “Eighty. Per day. Every day” and the tagline “An urgent watch”. 

Two days later, another poster appeared, adding: “Believe it or not, the highest paid crew member on this film is the writer”!

Now, the mystery is over. The trailer of Assi has been quietly attached to the prints of Border 2, and it reveals a hard-hitting courtroom drama.

The film stars an ensemble cast including Taapsee Pannu, Kani Kusruti, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Revathy, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak Kapur and Naseeruddin Shah. 

It is directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced by Sinha and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.

The trailer shows Kani Kusruti as a woman who survives a gang rape, with the 38-year-old female lead playing her lawyer fighting for justice. 

At nearly three minutes long, it is packed with intense and disturbing moments.

This is the third collaboration between the Tadka actor and Anubhav Sinha after Mulk and Thappad. Once again, Taapsee appears as a fiery advocate, reminding viewers of Pink. 

Written by Anubhav Sinha and Gaurav Solanki, Assi is scheduled for release on February 20, 2026.
