Mumbai Police arrested actor and self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal R Khan after a gunshot incident near a residential building in Andheri earlier this month.

Police officials said Khan was taken from his studio late Friday night. After initial questioning, he was formally arrested. Authorities recovered his licensed firearm during the arrest.

Khan admitted to firing four rounds on January 18. He told investigators that the shots occurred by accident while he was cleaning his gun. He said, “I was testing the gun after cleaning it. I did not intend to hurt anyone.”

According to police, Khan aimed at a mangrove area in front of his house, believing it to be empty. He said strong winds might have changed the path of one bullet, which hit a near residential building in the Oshiwara area.

Officials confirmed that writer- director Neeraj Kumar Mishra lived on the second floor of the building and model Prateek Baid lived on the fourth floor. No one was injured.

Police said they initially had no leads, but after investigation and technical checks, Khan was linked to the incident. He remained in custody as authorities continued their inquiry.
