The horse plushie has gone viral in China
After the global takeover of Labubus in 2025, the plushie of 2026 is here and it is a horse.
The Crying Horse plushies in China have gone viral ahead of the Lunar New Year.
The soft toy, which is a frowning horse plush, has became the bestseller for the New Year celebrations.
The sad toy was originally created from an error after a worker sewed a smile on the horse upside down, as per owner of Happy Sister - a shop in the eastern city of Yiwu.
The owner, Zhang Huoqing, told Reuters that they were set to refund the customer who received the sad toy but a picture of it went viral and it started to fly off the shelves.
Zhang believes the horse’s sad expression resonated with young workers in China.
“This crying horse really fits the reality of modern working people” she commented.
The toy is reported to be about 20cm tall and costs 25 yuan (£2.62).
It is red in colour, which represents good luck, and has a golden collar and bell around its neck. It also has the phrase “money comes quickly” embroidered on it.
