Former Team India captain Rohit Sharma has sparked an internet frenzy with an emotional reaction to the Padma Shri 2026, the fourth-highest civilian award, conferred upon him on the 77th Republic Day.
The cricket icon secured the historic 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy titles for India.
In an interview with Doordarshan Sports “The Hitman” was visibly moved, saying, “Receiving the Padma Shri is a very special moment for me and my family. I thank the Government of India from the bottom of my heart for this honor.”
The captain also acknowledged the support of the people who played a significant role in his illustrious career, adding, “I am also grateful to all those people who have played an important role in my career.”
Despite his retirement from T20I and Test cricket, Sharma continues to build his legacy. His hunger for bringing more pride to the country remains unchanged.
The legend promised his fans that “my effort to win matches and trophies for my country will always continue. Thank you. Jai Hind!”
