Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has earned heartfelt praise from fellow Puerto Rican music veteran Ricky Martin following his major wins at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

On Tuesday, February 3, the 54-year-old pop star extended his support to the 31-year-old rapper in an open letter titled "When One of Ours Succeeds, We All Succeed," published in the Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Día.

"Benito, brother, seeing you win three Grammy Awards, one of them for album of the year with a production entirely in Spanish, touched me deeply," Martin wrote.

He added, "Not only as an artist, but as a Puerto Rican who has walked stages around the world carrying his language, his accent and his story. I know what it means to succeed without letting go of where you come from."

"I know how heavy it is, what it costs, and what is sacrificed when you decide not to change because others ask you to," the Vente pa’ ca hitmaker noted. "That's why what you have achieved is not just a historic musical accomplishment, it's a cultural and human victory."

Toward the end, Martin commended Bunny for staying true to his identity and remaining deeply connected to his roots.

“You won without changing the color of your voice. You won without erasing your roots. You won by staying true to Puerto Rico,” he concluded.

Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS made history at the 2026 Grammy Awards on Feb. 1, becoming the first Spanish-language album to win Album of the Year. The album also won Best Música Urbana Album, while its track EoO earned Best Global Music Performance.
