Kapil Sharma left the audience in splits at Netflix’s What’s Next event in Mumbai, delivering his signature wit as he interacted with his fans and the media.

On Tuesday, February 3, the Netflix India CEO Monika Shergill took the stage to talk to the 44-year-old stand up comedian and praised his long association with the platform.

During the candid chat on how Netflix had been keen to collaborate with him for a long time, she said, “Hamari nazar, India ki nazar toh bahut time se aap par hai, Kapil. Hopefully 11 mulko ki police ki nazar nahi hone chahiye."

He immediately replied, “Ek do mulkon ke gangster bhi lage hue hai aaj kal," in a subtle nod to the recent incidents involving Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang.

Realizing the sensitivity of the comment, the Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 actor jokingly asked the media to cut that line from their coverage but the situation turned funnier when he realized the event was being broadcast live.

For the unversed, the television host's life took a tense turn in July 2025 when shots were fired at Kaps Caffe, a newly opened café in Surrey, British Columbia, owned by Kapil and his wife, Ginni Chatrath.

Later, Goldy Dhillon, of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the shooting and issued a warning on social media, “JAI SHRI RAM, Satshriakal ram sare bhaiyo ko aj jo y kapil sharma k kaps cafe..Surrey m firing hui iski jimevari, Goldy dhillon, Lawrence bishnoi gang lete h isko hamne call ki thi isko ring nhi Sunai di to karwai krni pdi ab b ring n sunegi to next karwai jaldi hi Mumbai krege."
