Ssunita Ahuja has spent most of her life away from the camera, watching her husband Govinda become one of Bollywood’s most recognisable faces. Now, at 58, she is stepping into the spotlight herself.

According to a report by India Today, the 58-year-old has signed her first acting project with Balaji Motion Pictures, produced by Ektaa Kapoor. 

A source said that the yet-untitled film will mark her official Bollywood debut, with Ssunita set to play a pivotal role. She is expected to shoot for around 20 days, though the makers are keeping other details under wraps.

The timing is hard to ignore. Over the past year, Ssunita has made headlines for candid comments about her marriage, sparking online debate and industry gossip.

The speculation pushed Govinda to issue a rare public response, dismissing the chatter as exaggerated.

“What I’ve been observing lately is that sometimes when we don’t speak, we either appear weak or it seems like we are simply the problem. So today, I’m responding,” he said in an interview with ANI.

Govinda went further, calling the rumours a result of a “big conspiracy.” He claimed that “people in the family” may have been “unknowingly involved,” adding, “They won’t realise they are being used in the initial stages of a big conspiracy.”

For years, Ssunita chose to remain private despite being married to Govinda since 1987. That has changed; she recently launched her own vlog channel and embraced a more outspoken, unfiltered public persona.

Her entry into films also continues the family’s connection with cinema. Daughter Tina Ahuja has already debuted, and son Yashvardhan is expected to follow soon.
