Truth behind Chappell Roan’s bold Grammy look finally revealed
Chappell Roan’s bold and sultry look at the 68th Grammy Awards have been dissected following intense backlash.
On Sunday, February 1, the 27-year-old musician made a striking appearance at music’s biggest night, sporting a skin-revealing custom red wine-coloured Mugler gown that appeared to feature pierced nipples.
Now, special effects (SFX) stylist Sasha Glasser has come forward to clarify that Roan’s look relied on prosthetic nipple pasties rather than actual exposure.
"The idea was for her to not be so naked,” Glasser told Allure.
She added, "It's not like any other type of prosthetic because it has a sticky backing, like a Band-Aid, so you don't have to glue it down."
Further explaining the details of The Subway hitmaker’s ensemble, Glasser shared that she cut a dime-size piece, glued it to the back of the prosthetic, and then her team stuck the earring through both the prosthetic and the mesh fabric.
Despite her headline-grabbing appearance at this year’s Grammys, Chappell Roan also presented the award for Best New Artist to Olivia Dean — a category she won last year.
