American singer Dove Cameron has opened up about a traumatic event of her life when she lost her best friend.

While making an appearance on February 4 on the new episode of Call Her Daddy, Dove recalled the time her best friend Haylee was murdered.

At the age of 9, Haylee was murdered by her father, who also killed her sister and then committed suicide himself.

Dove was hit with this loss at the age of 8 which scarred her forever.

On the podcast, Dove recalled how she met Haylee when she was 2 growing up in Bainbridge Island, Wash.

The Evil Like Me singer said “I had stayed with her dad for quite a lot of the summer before [the murder] happened. And I think even at 8, it was like a dark energy. He was a very angry man.”

She recalled they day she found out about the murder when she returned from school and overheard on home landline from the preschool principal.

“She basically said like, 'This is going to be a really, really disturbing call. Hayley and [her sister] Kelsey are gone. Steve is gone, and he took the girls with him,'” the actress said.

The actress said she had to get therapy at the young age because the loss “fissured” her brain.
