Billie Eilish’s brother, Finneas, supports her anti-ICE Grammys speech
Finnaes slams ‘powerful old white men’ who bash Billie Eilish for her ICE remarks
Billie Eilish’s brother Finneas stands by her sister's ICE remarks after her Grammys speech received wide backlash from political critics and MAGA influencers.
On Sunday, February 1, Billie received the Song of the Year award for her song, Wildflower, at the 68th Annual Grammys. During her Grammys acceptance speech, the singer called out ICE and said, “As grateful as I feel, I honestly don't feel like I need to say anything, but that no one is illegal on stolen land.”
After her remarks, MAGA influencers like Emily Austin, some conservative commentators, Native American group (Tongva Tribe), and other performative activism critics online have criticised Billie’s speech.
Billie’s brother Finneas, who has been her long-time supporter, took to social media on Wednesday, February 4, slamming critics of her speech.
He posted his words to Threads in a post he shared to Instagram Stories.
“Seeing a lot of very powerful old white men outraged about what my 24 year old sister said during her acceptance speech,” Finneas said. “We can literally see your names in the Epstein files.”
Other celebrities also dedicate their winning speeches to speaking against ICE at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, including Bad Bunny, Olivia Dean, Kehlani, and Shaboozey.
Moreover, many celebrities made visible statements, including Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and Samara Joy, by wearing “ICE Out” pins and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, who wore an orange whistle to honour grassroots ICE observers.
