After recurring as Teen Akilah for the past two seasons, Nia Sondaya is officially stepping into a bigger role as a series regular for Yellowjackets’ fourth and final season, as per Deadline.

From creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, the psychological horror-thriller series tells the harrowing story of a high school girls’ soccer team whose plane crash in the isolated northern wilderness leaves them to navigate survival, secrets and unimaginable challenges.

Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins and Simone Kessell, with Elijah Wood, starred in the third season of Yellowjackets in a recurring role.

While Hilary Swank, Joel McHale and Ashley Sutton appeared as guest stars.

The hit series is produced by Lionsgate Television and Creative Engine. It counts Ashley, Bart and Jonathan Lisco among its executive producers for season 3.

The executive producer lineup also includes Drew Comins of Creative Engine, Jeff W. Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Brad Van Arragon.
