Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film O’ Romeo has got major relief after the Bombay City Civil Court rejected a last-minute request to stop the film’s release.

Based on recent reports, the late Hussain Shaikh’s daughter filed the plea, claiming the movie’s portrayal harmed her father’s privacy and reputation.

According to News18, after listening to both sides, the court considered the claims along with the right to creative freedom and chose not to stop the film’s release.

Meanwhile, the arguments presented before the court highlighted that the project had been publicly announced in late 2024, while the legal challenge was brought only days before the scheduled premiere.

The court also noted that the right to privacy is a personal right that does not survive an individual’s death and therefore cannot be asserted by family members to block artistic works.

Furthermore, the source mentioned, the filmmakers further emphasized that O’ Romeo is positioned as a fictional narrative and carries a disclaimer stating that the characters are fictional and that any resemblance to real individuals is coincidental.

In addition, the outlet noted, the court took into account that blocking the movie at the last minute could hurt the finances of the producers and associated stakeholders.

Notably, the film will hit theaters in cinemas on February 13.
