Akshay Kumar and Tabu reunite after 26 years in ‘Bhooth Bangla’, now April 2026
A new release date for Balaji Motion Pictures' upcoming Akshay Kumar film Bhooth Bangla has been formally announced.
Originally slated to hit theatres on May 15, 2026 the movie has been postponed and will now open on April 10, 2026.
With an earlier theatrical window due to the date change the movie will have more breathing room in the face of a competitive release schedule.
Given Akshay packed schedule of 2026 theatrical releases the decision to move up the release is being seen as a calculated one.
It is anticipated that Bhooth Bangla will experience less box office congestion by arriving earlier giving the movie a more concentrated run in theatres.
The decision, according to industry watchers reflects a growing emphasis on separating major releases to maximise audience engagement and theatrical longevity.
Due in large part to its creative team and genre positioning Bhooth Bangla has consistently attracted attention since its announcement. The movie is the first time Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan have worked together and the two have produced several well known comedic entertainers together.
Although the plot is still unknown it is anticipated that the movie will combine elements of horror with the director's signature humour.
The film's appeal is further enhanced by the ensemble cast. Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu and Rajpal Yadav co-star with Akshay Kumar in Bhooth Bangla.
Notably, the movie reunites Akshay Kumar and Tabu on screen after 26 years apart their last joint project was Hera Pheri. This fact has caught the attention of seasoned Hindi filmgoers.
Balaji Motion Pictures, a branch of Balaji Telefilms Ltd., in collaboration with Cape of Good Films presents Bhooth Bangla. Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor and Akshay Kumar are the film's producers.
The film is positioned as a popular theatrical entertainment with Priyadarshan at the helm and a cast that is known for their strong comic timing.
To give viewers a taste of big-screen comedy early the following year Bhooth Bangla has been rescheduled for April 10, 2026.
