Lindsey Vonn undergoes leg surgery after suffering a crash 13 seconds into her run in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

On Sunday, February 8, the American skier was airlifted to Ca Foncello hospital in Trevizo, Italy, from the mountain in Cortina.

She had surgery to "stabilize" her leg, as per the hospital statement, reported by Reuters.

"In the afternoon, she underwent orthopedic surgery to stabilise the fracture sustained in her left leg," the statement said. T

It was the same leg Vonn injured when she tore her ACL a week ahead of the event. U.S. Ski & Snowboarding said earlier in a statement that she was stable, as per PEOPLE.

"Lindsey sustained an injury, but is in stable condition and in good hands with a team of American and Italian physicians," the organization said.

Vonn crashed just 13 seconds into her run after her right ski pole caught a course marker, leaving her down on the ice for about 15 minutes as medical staff treated her.

She was heard saying “Oh my God” while in visible pain.

Despite the injury, teammate Breezy Johnson said Vonn continued to support her from the sidelines.

Johnson went on to win gold in the women’s downhill on Sunday and told reporters that Vonn was still cheering her on after the crash.
